Pick Your Favorite Door
This post is about the contact section of my portfolio, inspired by the doors in Monsters, Inc.
I have been trying to bring more of my own references into this portfolio as a way to make the work feel more like me.
A small personal detail: as a kid, my family used to call me Boo because I looked a bit like the character and my name sounded similar, so the idea felt personal and funny.
For this contact section, I wanted each path to feel like a door you could choose instead of a standard list of links.

I used AI to explore ways of translating that reference into a real contact component. It helped me generate options quickly and test a few directions early.

Why did the AI add that random background? Who knows.
Google Stitch was the tool I decided to test, and I tried it as soon as it launched. The point for me was to understand where a new tool adds value and where it does not.
The result was pretty disappointing. Even after I shared my design system and some direction, the design still looked pretty bad... But it did help me get to the idea for the final component.
In summary, AI is great, but I do not see it as a replacement for a human designer. It helps me explore ideas and concepts quickly, but the final design still depends on judgment.
